FAQs for Those Requesting Sponsorships

To be respectful to our wonderful sponsors, we need to give them sufficient time to address the sponsorship request. Additionally, once they do sponsor you, you will need to work with graphic designers and printers to get the sponsor’s branding elements on the various banners, print media, and online media. If the timeline is any shorter, there isn’t ample time to address these items, and the branding benefit for the sponsor is negatively impacted.

The answer varies depending on multiple factors including the type of event, the amount of funds requested, and the type of sponsor you’re wanting to attract. For sponsorships from local small businesses, the lead time can be from 3-6 months. For larger sponsorship amounts and larger companies, 6-12 months is recommended.

A sponsor deck is a document (typically a PDF) that outlines key information that a sponsor will need to know to make a decision to sponsor your event or organization. This information includes:

  1. The date and location of the event
  2. A few paragraphs about the event
  3. Your target audience and expected attendance
  4. Benefits provided by your event or organization
  5. Types of sponsorships needed
  6. Benefits to the sponsor for each sponsorship type. (e.g. including their branding on a banner, web page, verbal acknowledgments, event tickets, etc.)

Once you notify us that you accept a specific sponsor, we notify the sponsor. The sponsor will then begin their internal process to pay the selected sponsor amount. This is paid directly to Shindio, which then makes those funds available to you, minus our service fees. You and the sponsor will then be put in contact with one other so you can work out the specific sponsorship/branding requirements and expectations directly.

Yes. Once the sponsor has paid their sponsorship amount, we will put you both in direct contact with one another. This will enable you both to address any specific requirements, expectations, and next steps.

We at Shindio want to complete this transaction as quickly as possible, meaning you will get paid typically within a week. Frequently this timeline is shorter.

It is correct that Shindio does not require up-front fees from the sponsor or the recipient. Once we match a sponsor with an event or organization and the sponsor pays the sponsor amount, we collect our service fees as the funds pass through our transaction system. This way we only get paid on our success. This makes our process a win-win for all parties.

The best way to determine your sponsorship needs is to calculate out your expenses for the event, or the operating period of your organization that you’re seeking sponsorship for. Some key things to keep in mind are:

  1. Add to your expenses budget any graphic design or printing costs that may be incurred by receiving a successful sponsor.
  2. Remember that Shindio will take a service fee for funds we raise. So if you need a specific amount, make sure you ask for enough to include our fees, while still leaving you with the needed amount. Shindio service fees are typically a minimum of 20% for non-profit events and organizations, and 40% for for-profit events and organizations. These fees are irrespective of the sponsor and the sponsor type.

No problem. We are happy to set you up with non-cash sponsors. This can also be in addition to cash sponsors depending on your need. These sponsor types typically include in-kind, product placement, media sponsors, brand ambassadors. For any such non-cash sponsors with a value over $1,000.00 USD we will charge a service fee 10% value in USD cash.

FAQs for Sponsors

Shindio receives the funds and immediately submits them to the intended recipient as soon as they are available, minus a small service fee. This is typically within 2 business days.

At that point, no money has left Shindio’s system so we have two options.

  1. We can return the full amount back to you, or
  2. We can hold those funds in your Sponsor Account, until we find another sponsorship opportunity that meets your specific sponsorship criteria and is accepted by both parties.

No. We are getting new sponsorship requests all the time. If you have a specific type of sponsorship that you’re looking for, add that in your sponsorship criteria and if it’s not already in our client list, we’ll go find it. Our database has thousands of potential sponsorship opportunities.

No problem. Here at Shindio, our main concern is getting as much of the funding as possible to the community organizers. So, we cut our service fee in half in those cases to make sure the broker is paid and the intended recipient gets as much of the funding as possible.

As soon as both parties have accepted a sponsorship match, and sponsorship funds have been submitted to the requesting organization, we will provide both parties contact information for each other so you can both address the necessary sponsorship details and expectations.

In your Sponsor Profile we’ve provided the ability to upload your Branding Packet. With that on our files and the appropriate level of Sponsorship Autonomy selected in your Sponsor Profile, we can simply forward your Branding Packet to the sponsored party and let them proceed accordingly. We do recommend providing contact information in the Branding Packet in case they need to contact you or a representative regarding questions not covered in your packet.

We collect a small percentage of the transaction amount for each successful sponsorship. We only get paid, when we are successful.

While there are many reasons we could share, in a nutshell, our families and friends are active parts of the communities that we serve. We know their struggle first hand because as we participate in the many programs, clubs, events and organization in our community, we see the struggles of those all around us resulting from their tight budgets,  which then requiring funds from families that have no funds to give. While we recognize we’ll likely not end the problem, we are committed to helping as many families and communities as we can.
